Andrea Jeremiah

Andrea Maria Jeremiah is an Indian actress, playback performer as well as a musician. She works predominantly in Tamil as well as Malayalam film languages. She first made an appearance with the Tamil film Pachaikili Muthucharam and also made her Malayalam debut with Annayum's Rasoolum. Andrea Jeremiah grew up in an Anglo-Indian home in Arakkonam Tamil Nadu. Andrea's father was a Madras High Court lawyer. She has one younger sister who works in Leuven Belgium as a research assistant. Jeremiah was born near Chennai and went to National Public School and graduated from Women's Christian College. Andrea is a young girl who started classical piano lessons at age eight years old, was identified as an "geek" and wanted to be a psychiatrist until she passed her 12th grade examination. By the age of 10, she was involved in the Jackson Five-style troupe called Young Stars which formed the base of her early recording and composing music career. She also was a theatre artist in her college and appeared in several stage plays organised through The Madras Players and EVAM. She was the President of the Student Senate at Women's Christian College. Andrea started her career in theatre by appearing in Girish Karanad's Nagamandala. Andrea was in the 2006 leo coffee commercial with Shiva. In 2006, she appeared in a television show which aired on Podhigai. She has performed across India. She had a small role for the Kanda Mudhal final (2005). Gautham Menon enlisted Andrea to portray a lead character after she sang in Vettaiyaadu's Vettaiyaadu. The film was an adaptation of the novel by James Siegel Derailed. The film features Andrea acting as Kalyani a homemaker whose husband gets involved in an affair, which leads to her being threatened with blackmail. Andrea was selected for this role because of Simran and Tabu, two actresses who were approached by producers. It was first released in early in the 2010. It was first released as part of Venkat's Mankatha that was released in 2011. The film featured a variety of actors. Annayum Rasoolum was a romantic film made by Rajeeev Rath which was released in 2013, was her Malayalam debut.
